Atlantic Mayors Congress Announces Craig Pollett As New Executive Director

August 4, 2023

St. John’s, N.L. – The Atlantic Mayors Congress (AMC) welcomes Craig Pollett as its new Executive Director, taking over from Matt Kerrigan, who retired after serving more than 20 years in that role.

“On behalf of the board of directors, I’d like to thank Matt, who has shepherded the organization since the beginning,” says AMC Chair Mayor David Kogon of Amherst. “We believe Craig, in his new role as President of Pollett Strategy Inc. (PSI), to be particularly well-suited to take on the role of Executive Director and build on Matt’s strong foundation.”

Pollett served as CEO with Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) for over 20 years. During that time, he led several significant policy and advocacy initiatives and worked continuously to provide resources, tools, and capacity for municipalities to reach their potential while promoting good governance.

“At MNL, I navigated its growth into a provincial advocacy leader. This new opportunity sits perfectly within my wheelhouse. I’m looking forward to working with the Atlantic Mayors’ Congress and leveraging its potential to support the sector across Atlantic Canada.”

Pollett says his first objective is to lead the board in developing a strategic plan to guide the organization through the next few years.

The Atlantic Mayors Congress is a biannual event and an essential part of the region’s municipal schedule. The next congress will take place September 21-23 in the Town of Happy Valley–Goose Bay.
